Nasarawa Assembly passes N20.2bn 2020 Supplementary budget into law.

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has passed the 2020 supplementary budget of N20.2billion into law as sent to the House  by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House  announced the passage of the 2020 supplementary appropriation bill into law after bill scale third reading during the House proceedings in Lafia today.

Balarabe Abdullahi said that the speedy passage of the bill was to enable the state government address some challenges and was due to the effects of COVID19 pandemic on the economy.

” A Bill for a Law to Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State ( Supplementary Appropriation Bill) the sum of N20, 203, 376, 300 only for the Services of Nasarawa State Government for the period of two months, commencing 1st November,  2020 and ending 31st December, 2020 scale third reading and passed into law,” the speaker said

Balarabe Abdullahi appreciated his colleagues for their support in giving the 2020 supplementary bill speedy passage.

” I appreciate your commitment and I appreciate your passion for the development of the state.

” I sincerely thank you all, ” he said.

The speaker directed the clerk to the House to produce a clean copy of the bill to the governor for his assent.

Earlier, Hon Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the 2020 supplementary bill to scale third reading. 

Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House seconded the motion for the bill to scale third reading. 

The House unanimously passed the budget into third reading .

It would be recalled that on Nov. 11, 2020 Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has presented N20.2billion 2020 supplementary budget to the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The Sum of N14,816,626,602b is for recurrent expenditure while N5,386,719,300b is for capital expenditure.

It would be recalled that on July 20, 2020, Gov. Abdullahi Sule has presented a revised 2020 budget of N62.96billion to the state house of assembly for consideration and approval.

It would also be recalled  that on December 4, 2019, Gov. Abdullahi Sule has presented the 2020 budget proposal of N100.52 billion to the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
