Nasarawa: Relevant Technology Innovation and Skill Acquisition board invents ventilator, thermometer to fight Covid 19.

Technology, is the application of scientific knowledge to the change and manipulation of the human environment which is the current trend in the world today, since the world is a global village with the help of technological inventions, everything is done technically.

Considering this trend, the Nasarawa state Relevant Technology Innovation and skill acquisition board is an organization with the mandate to train youths on vocational and skill acquisition to ensure they are self-help since unemployment and idleness has rising to 90% in the society. Hence the organisation under the leadership of Dr. Idris Umar has trained over 20, 000 youths since 1996 and has also produced relevant equipment to fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic into the state.

In an exclusive interview with Daybreak news today, the general manager, nasarawa state relevant technology innovation and skill acquisition board, said considering the high level of unemployment faced by Nigerian graduates, which is the major factor to the high crime level in the state and country at large, the board thought it is wise to train youths who are willing to change their lives in order to make them useful to themselves and the society,thereby reducing the level of crimes in the state.

Doctor Idris added that the government on its part has supported the scheme in various ways, calling on the government to sustain its support for technology to promote the market value in terms of technological innovations in the state.

Also reacting to the development, Director, skill acquisition of the board, Agyo Joseph stressed that the skill acquisition unit has produced a power bank that can power household appliances and other appliances to aid productivity in every sector of state.

He stated that the major challenges they are facing is low patronage from the private sectors and the citizens of the state, Urging both private and other sectors within and outside nigeria to patronise their initiatives at the relevant technology innovation and skill acquisition centre in Nasarawa state with guarantee of high quality and affordable products.

On her part, the board’s director of planning and statistics, Hajiya Habiba Umar shafa said the world has become a global village, technological advancement is necessary in every sector of the society. Hence the need for women to venture into various skills regardless of the requirements in the society is necessary.

She also said development occur if a society can make technical advances and reflect them to their social and cultural life,therefore, efforts is been put in place to advance technology in Nasarawa state through this organization.
