Nasarawa state Government to construct two VIP markets, awards contract

The Nasarawa State Government has awarded contracts for the construction of two markets at Akwanga and Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Shehu Tukur, Principal partner, Carnoni Associate, firm supervising the projects made the disclosure while handing over the designs of the sites to the contractors, Saturday in Akwanga LGA.

According to the Principal partner, the market to be constructed in Akwanga is a 140 shops neighbourhood market with facilities befitting of international standard.

He added that the neighborhood market in Akwanga would be the third in the state, apart from the once in Lafia and Keffi LGAs.

He also said the contract for Very Important Personalities (VIP) guest house in Akwanga LGA is to remodel the old VIP build more than three decades ago. with a befitting event centre.

Shehu Tukur also said the government has also awarded the contract for the construction of a befitting 300 capacity event centre at Akwanga LGA.

He said the event centre is the first to be constructed by the government since the state was created in 1996.

He added that the would also contract road leading to the VIP and event centre.

He further disclosed that the state government has awarded contract for the construction of 450 shops modern market at Nassarawa-Eggon LGA.

He assured that the consulting firm would monitor the three projects to ensure that the contractors adhere to standard based on the contracts agreements.

He therefore promised that the two markets, VIP guest house and the event centre would be delivered by December 2021.

Responding separately, Samuel Meshi and Danlami Idris, Chairmen of Akwanga and his Nassarawa-Eggon LGAs expressed gratitude to Governor Abdullahi Sule for the gesture.

The Chairman of Akwanga was represented at the occasion by Safianu Isa, Deputy Chairman of the area, while his Nassarawa-Eggon counterpart was represented by Paul Ebuga, Secretary of the LGA.

The two Chairmen on behalf of the people of their respective areas promised to provide the necessary support and supervision to ensure timely completion of the projects.

In his goodwill message, Turaki Gamji, President of Nasarawa State Treaders Association expressed gratitude to the governor for giving attention to the welfare of Treaders.

He described the governor as Treaders friendly and promised to support his administration is the state to succeed.

The occasion was attended by stakeholders expecially elected and appointed government officials from the two LGAs.
