The Nigerian Navy Ship Jubilee in Ikot Abasi local government area of Akwa Ibom has deployed ships and personnel to creeks within the Eastern Naval Command to complement the command’s ongoing operation ‘Anioforifori’.

The ENC launched ‘Operation Anioforifori’ on Monday. Anioforifori in Kalabari language of Rivers State means ‘chase out thieves’.

Commander NNS Jubilee, Commodore Aderiyina Akinwale while sending forth ships and personnel for the exercise, explained that the exercise was aimed at heightening the alertness and readiness of navy platforms and personnel of the Eastern Naval Command.

Akinwale said the NNS Jubilee and other operations base of the ENC would in the course of the patrol of the creeks curb any form of crimes in the waterways if any. “Now Nigerian Navy Ship Jubilee, being part of the Eastern Naval Command is complementing the efforts of the whole Eastern Naval Command by deploying boats today to complement the exercise that are going on presently.

“So while the ships patrol at sea, we in the Nigerian Navy Ship Jubilee and other operations base of Eastern Naval Command will patrol in the various creeks around. That is in a nutshell what the exercise is all about.

“As you can see in the background we are ready to send our boats to go on patrol and in the process if we encounter any illegalities we shall still curb them. We will not say we are carrying out only exercise. It may dovetail into operations.” He said.

The navy boss said ‘operation Anioforifori’ was part of the normal duties of the Nigerian Navy to secure the maritime environment of the country.
