NDDC Boss bags Public Administrator of the year award

The Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Efiong Akwa, has been honoured as the Public Administrator of the year by a Niger Delta tabloid, Gbaramatu Voice.

According to the Gbaramatu Voice, the recognition was reportedly for the positive contribution to the people of Niger Delta and the purposeful leadership qualities of Dr.Efiong Akwa.

It also conferred an award of ‘Personality of the Year’ on the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, as part of activities marking its seventh anniversary.

The Special Adviser on Youths to the Interim Administrator, Engineer Udengs Eradiri, who received the award for his boss in Abuja on Tuesday described the recognition as well-deserved.

Eradiri in a statement said his principal was recognised particularly for his contributions in the educational advancement of the region.

He stated that within Akwa’s tenure NDDC inaugurated 1000-bed hostel in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; distributed science equipment to secondary schools, donated 1000KVA generator and coaster bus to the Niger Delta University (NDU) and commissioned the construction of 500-bed hostel in NDU.

He noted that under Akwa, NDDC had commenced a comprehensive review of its scholarship programme for the benefits of scholars in the region.

Eradiri said Akwa had meticulously and judiciously managed the affairs of the commission ensuring conclusive execution of impactful programmes and projects in the Niger Delta.

The former Ijaw Youth president said Akwa had demonstrated the true meaning of a “team player” in the management of NDDC adding that his leadership qualities had promoted the image of the commission positively.

He lauded the Gbaramatu Voice for for the recognition saying it would spur his boss to contribute more for development of the region.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Umana Umana, for their support for Akwa and the NDDC.
