NDLEA Confiscates Drugs Worth N450bn in 9 Months, Says Marwa

 
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized drugs worth over N450bn between January 2021 and September 2022.

The Chairman/Chief Executive, NDLEA, Buba Marwa disclosed this yesterday when he appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Drugs and Narcotics for the 2023 budget defence.

He said the agency arrested 19, 341 suspects for drugs-related offences and 28 barons within the period under review.
Marwa said the agency made seizures of 5,451,000 kilograms of illicit substances.
He said the agency secured 3,111 convictions within the period; while 3,232 cases were pending in court.
Marwa said a total of 714 hectares of cannabis farms were destroyed within the same period.
