NEMA Distributes Items To Windstorm Victims In Kogi

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to victims of windstorm disasters which occurred in 2021 in Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu and Yagba-East local government Areas (LGAs) of Kogi State.

In a statement, the Abuja operational office of the agency said 17 communities in Kabba/Bunu, eight in Ijumu and a community in Yaba-East benefited from the gesture.

The Director General (DG) of NEMA, Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha Habib, who was represented by Mr Justin Uwazuruonye, Head, Abuja Operations Office, at the distribution exercise, said the items distributed included rice, beans, garri, vegetable oil, cooking condiments, and non-food items like mattresses, wax print, blankets, cement, nails and ceiling boards.

He said the items were approved by the federal government and distributed directly by NEMA to the affected persons in order to ease their suffering. He noted that the items were not meant to compensate the victims for all that were destroyed by the disasters, but only to cushion the effects of the unfortunate incidents.
