Neo Akpofure Threatens Legal Action Over Rape Allegation

Former Big Brother Naija Season 5 (Lockdown edition) housemate, Neo Akpofure, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to a social media user over a rape allegation made against him on X (formerly Twitter), demanding a public retraction and apology or face a defamation lawsuit.

In a letter dated February 18, 2026, and signed by Chief Victor O. Idiapho of E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., Akpofure’s legal representatives described the allegation as “false, malicious and defamatory.” They warned that failure to meet their demands would result in immediate legal action without further notice.

The letter was addressed to Ms Arikan Udoka, who operates the X handle “the violently wicked (@notralia).” According to the lawyers, Udoka posted on February 17, 2026, alleging that Akpofure raped her during their time at the University of Calabar (UNICAL). The post reportedly referenced a prior consensual relationship but went on to accuse him of rape.

The post has since been deleted.

Lawyers Describe Claim as Defamatory

Akpofure’s legal team argued that the allegation amounts to actionable libel under Nigerian law. They stated that the post portrays their client as a criminal and sexual offender, exposing him to reputational damage, emotional distress, and professional harm.

The lawyers demanded the following within 48 hours:

  • Immediate deletion of the alleged defamatory statement from X and any other platform where it may have been shared
  • A clear and unequivocal public retraction
  • A public apology acknowledging that the allegation was false and misleading
  • A written undertaking to refrain from making further defamatory statements

They warned that non-compliance would trigger immediate legal proceedings.

Wider Context

The allegation surfaced amid renewed public conversations about sexual assault, sparked by a separate viral claim from a TikTok user that led to the hashtag #StopRapingWomen trending online and prompted many individuals to share personal experiences.

As of the time of reporting, no court action has been publicly filed, and the matter remains a developing legal dispute between the parties involved.
