NGO Grants Scholarship to Ogun’s First Baby of the Year

Must read

In a heartwarming gesture, the non-profit organization Junior Chamber International (JCI) has bestowed a scholarship upon the first baby born in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, on New Year’s Day. The scholarship, covering the child’s primary education, was presented along with essential items such as a baby cot, clothes, diapers, and a baby wrapper at the Oke-Ilewo Family Health Centre.

Dr. Hazzan Kafidipe, the newly elected President of JCI Rock City, shared that celebrating the first baby of the year is part of the organization’s annual “The future projects,” a tradition spanning over 13 years. He expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting the child’s education through partnerships and sponsors, emphasizing the significance of continuous follow-ups to ensure sustained assistance.

The JCI Rock City team, after verifying different hospitals, identified the Oke-Ilewo Family Health Center as the birthplace of the first baby boy at 4:50 am to the Olowokeré family. The organization aims to extend its support by providing the newborn with a fixed account, going beyond the tradition of gifts, sponsorships, and scholarships.

Mrs. Olowokere Omobolarinwa, the baby’s mother, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for JCI’s generosity, acknowledging the positive impact it would have on her child’s academic growth. This initiative exemplifies the organization’s dedication to making a meaningful contribution to the community and fostering a promising future for the younger generation.
