By Joy Osaji

Over 20 Qatari companies that are specialized in various commodities and services have so far flew into Lagos to meet with prospective partners in Nigeria.

This revelation was made in Abuja by Ambassador Yakubu Abdullahi Ahmed while addressing stakeholders during the Qatar – Nigeria economic forum which took place on Friday in Abuja,

He stated that the forum was not only a success but a solid foundation upon which they intend to establish and expand business to business and people to people cooperation for mutual benefits between Nigeria and Qatar.

“I must specially acknowledge the efforts made by the management of Qatar development Bank for identifying Nigeria as a potential business destination. It took the effort of the bank to undertake a careful study of the economic opportunities in Nigeria, identify prospective suitable partners and proceed to bring them together for the establishment of concrete partners” he said.

He equally noted that Nigeria embassy has made its contributions during that study by facilitating engagement between the representatives of the Qatar development bank and officials of relevant government authorities and private sectors in Nigeria.

Furthermore, the ambassador said that there were plans to organise similar events in Doha but the sudden rise of covid -19 cases led to the postponement of the event.

He also acknowledged the effort of His Excellency, the ambassador of Qatar to Nigeria in making the forum a success. “Me and my friend have cultivated the spirit of brotherhood and support in all matters relating to bilateral relations between Nigeria and Qatar” he said.

He added that the seamless relationship they have established has be yielding positive results on both sides and has made the job much easier with minimal or no friction.

He extolled the positive response from stakeholders that met with the representatives of Qatar development bank and encouraged all to open a window of follow-up and explore all possible areas of mutual interests for a win -win cooperation.
