Nigeria at 61: veteran journalist says Nigeria experienced growth, little development

Ben Adaji, a veteran journalist based in Jalingo has said that Nigeria has experienced growth with little development.

Adaji made the declaration on Friday in an interview with Daybreak news in Jalingo.

He said that the nation had experienced population growth which was one of the indecies in measuring economic growth.

He also described the increasing revenue generation and allocation which had kept increasing since indepence as another parameter in measuring economic growth.

He however, undermined national development in the area of education/ leteracy rate, doctors/ patient ratio, per capital income and employment rates among others.

Adaji observed that Nigeria was still battling with basic necessities of live at 61, wondering when the country would address such challenges and face technological advancement.

He also identified kidnapping, terrorism, banditry which were allien to the Nigerian society as some of the militating factors affecting the nation’s development.

The veteran journalist urged Nigerians to uphold patriotism against self agrandisement.

He noted that corruption was conceptualised and imbedded by selfish Nigerians who did not want Nigerian society to grow.

Adaji further called on Leaders to curtail urgly security situation in the country.

He also advised the people to unite and fight for the common goals of realising the Nigeria of’ our dream’. He said.
