Nigeria sports summit holds in Abuja

A 5-day Nigeria Sports Summit with the theme ‘Sports Heroes and Heroines do not develop from the buds but the roots: A clarion call to support Grassroots sports’ will hold next week in Abuja.
The summit which will hold from 19 – 23 November will see all stakeholders from the 774 local government area of the country participating.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr. Philip Femi Aziegbe said in Abuja yesterday that the aims and objectives of the summit are to complement existing efforts on legislative and policy formulations cum implementations geared towards improving stimulating geometric upgrade of sports in our education and the occupational sectors.

According to Aziegbe, it will help in diagnosing the challenges and focusing on the pathways of advancing sports which will create wider windows for increasing talents discovery, youth participation and sustaining active capacity building in sports as well using sports to build the quest for peace, unity, and progress of the society.

He said the Summit will have seasoned and erudite sports administrators, academia, religious leaders, MDAs. The media and consultants will deliver papers at the events.

Aziegbe said the event is to source and mobilize resources for the public and private partnership synergies which will motivate and drive investments and investors to efficiently and effectively support sports and education as well as increased participation in secular sports from the grassroots to the national and international levels.

He added that it will also help to create awareness to promote the physical and health education and other related sporting activities.
