The Nigerian Army announced on Monday that its troops killed eight notorious terrorists and rescued 16 kidnapped victims in operations throughout Nigeria.
In a post on its official X handle, the Army detailed how, on September 22, troops thwarted an attempt by terrorists to raid villages in Borno for supplies, eliminating three assailants in the process. They recovered a significant cache of firearms, including one light machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades, and over 200 linked rounds of ammunition.
In a separate operation, troops tracked down terrorists escorting abducted victims near Uvaha village in Gwoza Local Government Area. Despite heavy rainfall, the troops engaged the terrorists, killing one and forcing the others to flee, which led to the rescue of 16 hostages—10 men and six women.
The Army also reported successful operations in Yobe, where troops set up an ambush based on intelligence about terrorists receiving supplies. This led to the neutralization of four terrorists in the Madza and Azare villages, resulting in the capture of additional weapons.
Furthermore, troops in the Federal Capital Territory collaborated with other security agencies to conduct a stop-and-search operation in Kugbo, Abuja, leading to the apprehension of suspects and the recovery of 178 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag of flour, along with a mobile phone and ₦29,000.
These operations highlight the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and insurgency in the region.
