By   Milcah   Tanimu

The Nigerian Army has neutralized two suspects accused of killing four soldiers in Rivers state. Lt.-Col. Danjuma Danjuma, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army 6 Division, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday.

The suspects were killed during a raid by troops from the 5 Battalion in Kalaogbokolo, Ahoada West Local Government Area. The gang killed the soldiers on December 12, 2023, and also abducted two Korean expatriates from Daewoo Nigeria Limited.

Lt.-Col. Danjuma said two suspects were captured, but they tried to escape into the bush. After a chase, they were neutralized. The suspects had returned to the community from their hideout, based on reliable intelligence.

During the operation, the troops recovered several weapons. These included an AK-47 rifle, a Fabrique National rifle, and a pump-action shotgun. Troops also seized ammunition, including three AK-47 magazines and 13 rounds of 7.62mm NATO rounds.

The Nigerian Army emphasized that criminals involved in such acts will face justice. It encouraged citizens to provide actionable intelligence to help tackle criminal activities.
