Nigerian Army Partners with Nigeria-Korea Institute for Military Innovation

By   Milcah   Tanimu

The Nigerian Army aims to collaborate with the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute (NKFI) in Lokoja on military innovations and national development.

Brig.-Gen. Oluremi Fadairo, the Commander of the 12th Brigade, made this pledge during an inspection visit to the institute on Monday. Fadairo praised the facilities at the NKFI. He described them as exceptional and world-class.

He emphasized that technological advancements can shift the balance of power. Therefore, fostering creativity and forward-thinking among researchers and students is crucial.

With the resources available at NKFI, the Nigerian Army can collaborate effectively on military innovation. He compared the NKFI’s facilities to those at the Tata Institute of Technology in India.

The purpose of his visit was to inspect these facilities and identify potential collaboration areas. Fadairo hopes the institution will emphasize military innovation for Nigeria’s growth.

He urged collaborations with leading defense technology firms. He highlighted the need for interdisciplinary approaches to address complex military challenges. “Imagine the potential if we harness the expertise of engineers, computer scientists, and strategists together,” he said.

He believes the NKFI could drive technological advancement in Nigeria. Fadairo outlined a vision where the NKFI serves as both a training ground for officers and a hub for military research and development.

“Let us not just keep pace with global advancements but lead in military innovation,” he added. Earlier, the NKFI Rector, Mr. Williams Charles, stated that the institute aims to advance skills and inspire youths in technology.

Charles praised Gov. Usman Ododo’s administration for creating a supportive environment, making the institute a positive reference point in the state.

He welcomed the Brigade Commander’s visit and highlighted that this collaboration would open new frontiers for technological advancement.
