Kaita: “We Delight in Transforming Challenges into Opportunities”
Julius Berger Nigeria Plc received widespread commendation earlier this week when the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) praised the company for its exceptional contributions to nation-building. Speaking during an award ceremony honoring Julius Berger’s Director of Administration, Alhaji Dr. Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, NANS Coordinator Daniel Friday Egga highlighted the company’s long-standing reputation for delivering quality construction projects across Nigeria.
Egga remarked, “For many of us, we grew up hearing about Julius Berger and witnessing the enormous work the company has done in developing Nigeria. Most of the significant construction projects in this country bear your name, and we deeply appreciate the quality and impact of your work.”
### Praise for Julius Berger’s CSR Efforts
Beyond infrastructure, the NANS leader acknowledged Julius Berger’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly its academy dedicated to training young Nigerians. “We appreciate your commitment to Nigeria’s youth, empowering them to contribute to the country’s development. Your academy exemplifies your love for this nation,” Egga stated.
He also called on leaders in various fields to act in ways that benefit the country’s development. “As young people, we recognize those who contribute to the growth of our nation and its youth. These are the individuals we see as role models,” he added.
### NANS Advocates for Youth Orientation
Egga underscored NANS’ dedication to reorienting young Nigerians against societal vices such as drug abuse, campus prostitution, and cultism. “Our philosophy is ‘catch them young,’ and we prioritize sensitization programs on campuses nationwide,” he explained.
### Honoring Kaita’s Contributions
Addressing Dr. Kaita directly, Egga said, “Today, we honor your decades of service to Julius Berger, Katsina State, and Nigeria. Your dedication to mentoring and developing young people has not gone unnoticed. Over 40.1 million Nigerian students stand with you, and we present this Award of Excellence as a token of our appreciation.”
### Julius Berger’s Commitment to Progress
In his response, Dr. Kaita thanked NANS for the recognition and reflected on Julius Berger’s journey in Nigeria, which began with the construction of Lagos’ Eko Bridge in 1965. “Since then, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to being partners in Nigeria’s progress. Through initiatives like our academy and various CSR programs, we aim to transform challenges into tangible opportunities,” Kaita said.
