Nigerian World Boxing Champion (WBC), Bashiru Lawrence Ali, known as Bash Ali worldwide said that Minister of Sports Mr. John Enoh and his cohorts have threatened to kill him if he tells Tinubu the truth about their meeting outside the sports Ministry.
Bash Ali, said on Monday November 20, 2023, that Minister Enoh and himself had a meeting in Lagos and flew back to Abuja together on Air Peace flight 7124 and had another meeting at the airport in Abuja where, “for the last time he told Enoh that his demand for another $1M USD bribe is not going to be possible.
He made the revelation in an open letter to President Bola Tinubu dated 22nd May 2024, made available to journalist, entitled: “Corrupt Minister John Enoh’s Demand for Another U$1M Part 3”.
Recalled that Guinness World Record Boxing Championship Fight, is being organised by Bash Ali to be hosted in Nigeria which has been inaugurated by the federal government with Nigeria sports minister as a Co- organiser since 2023, but has been suffering delay for reasons Ali alleged was because he refused to agree for the US$1 million bribe demanded by Enoh.
Bash Ali, in a letter to President Tinubu Wednesday and made available to our correspondent stated that Minister Enoh lied from A to Z in a press conference he (Enoh) addressed on April 28 2024.
The letter read on parts: Sir, I am sure that you have read my part 1 & 2 letters to you. The letters were written to you because I was shocked when Minister John Enoh replied on your behalf backed with a press conference statement which he personally signed.
“My President Sir, today, I am not going to bore you with too much information but to address John Eno’s April 28, 2024 Press Conference where he lied from the start to the end and closed it with the biggest lie of all time by saying he has met me only once in his life time and in the presence of his staff.
“My President Sir, John Enoh and his cohorts have threatened to kill me if I tell you the truth about my meeting with him outside of the Ministry of Sport but if killing me will make Nigeria the best country in the world then nothing can be more redemptive because I want the best for Nigeria.
“My President Sir, on Monday November 20, 2023, Minister Enoh and I had a meeting in Lagos, we flew back to Abuja on Air Peace flight 7124 and we had another meeting at the airport in Abuja where for the last time I told him that his demand for another $1M USD BRIBE is not possible.
“My President Sir, for 8 months, Minister Enoh has employed all manners of delay tactics and LIES to frustrate me by not calling for a meeting with the members of the Bash Ali Boxing Project Local Organizing Committee as constituted and inaugurated by the Federal Government of Nigeria unless he gets another $1M USD bribe.
“My President Sir, it is imperative to inform you that this historic fight is private sector driven and that it will not cost the Federal Government of Nigeria a KOBO, other than providing enabling environment
“The Federal Government is to provide an enabling environment for a successful show through the Ministry of Sport and in the process earn revenue in taxes, and unprecedented level of positive publicity around the world etc. But Minister Enoh is not interested
“My President Sir, as I have asked in my previous letters, I am once again respectfully asking for the following: That the Presidency should immediately take over the hosting of the Guinness World Record Boxing Championship Fight.
That suit NO. FHC/ABJ/CS/1231/2021 against the Federal Government of Nigeria, former Minister Sunday Dare and the Ministry of Sport should be settled out of court.
“That you once again permit me the luxury of presenting to you the historic fight souvenirs and a pair of BOXING GLOVES to KNOCKOUT CORRUPTION in Nigeria.
“That my allegations against Minister Enoh be properly investigated and that the appropriate action be taken against him.
“My President Sir, let me conclude by saying that the patriotic people of Nigeria headed by me are behind you and your Renewed Hope Agenda, and we are rooting for you and supremely confident that you will come out a winner”, it stated.
Bash Ali, OON, the World Boxing Champion statement was copied to the office of Hadiza Bala-Usman; Secretary to the Government of the Federation; EFCC, and Inspector General of Police, respectively.
