The Kogi State Coordinator of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mr. Godwin Ogbe, has vowed to sanction petroleum marketers found cheating consumers in the state. Over the weekend in Lokoja, Ogbe made this commitment during an interaction with members of the Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council.

Ogbe issued a stern warning to filling station owners, urging them to stop the under-dispensing of petrol to consumers. He assured that strict sanctions would be imposed on offenders.

He also cautioned filling station operators in the state to refrain from actions that could undermine the federal government’s efforts in ensuring the consistent supply and sale of petroleum products.

“The authority will not tolerate any nefarious activities that will undermine the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in ensuring that petroleum products are available for Nigerians,” Ogbe emphasized.

“Any marketer that under-dispenses petrol or cooking gas in Kogi State will face heavy sanctions, as outlined in our regulations,” he added.

Ogbe further warned that marketers must not sabotage the federal government’s initiatives, especially after being given the liberty to sell fuel based on depot prices. “We will not tolerate any act of cheating in the dispensing of products to the public,” he concluded.
