The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Emmanuel Osodeke on Sunday said told our correspondent that it has not received any notice from the Ministry or Labour and Employment or any ministry of the Government over it’s on going strike.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, had during a meeting with the National Association of Academic Technologist on Friday promised to meet with ASUU this week.
This week is the last week of ASUU two months rollover strike;Osodeke added that, no meeting if they did not hear from them and that the National executive Council will be meeting at the expiration of this week.
The Spokesman for the ministry of Education, Been Goong faulted Osodeke’s claim on the notice of the meeting, that the government has been reaching out to the union continually, that the negotiation team is meeting ASUU this week.
The Chairman Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities,Prof. Samuel Edoumiekumo on Sunday in an interview with our Correspondent has reiterated the need for the Federal Government and the striking ASUU to solve the lingering issues in order to end the on going strike.
