The Yoruba film industry, Nollywood, is in mourning once again as veteran actor Dejumo Lewis passes away at the age of 80.

Saidi Balogun, his colleague, confirmed the sad news in an Instagram post bidding farewell and praying for the late actor’s soul to rest in peace.

“Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace.”

While the cause of his death remains unknown, fellow actors took to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to the iconic actor.

Adeolu Funsho wrote, “Oh wow, an icon has gone, may his soul rest in peace.”

Mustapha Sholagbade wrote, “May heaven be pleased with him.”

Eniola Badmus wrote, “Awwww.”

Others, like Taiwo Oduala, Femi Davies, and Queen Meelah, expressed their condolences and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

Dejumo Lewis was renowned for his roles in notable films such as “A Place in the Stars,” “Crossroads,” and “Power of 1.” His portrayal of the Kabiyesi in ‘The Village Headmaster’ left an indelible mark on the industry.

This loss follows a series of unfortunate events in the Yoruba Nollywood industry, with notable figures like Sunday Ossai, Akeem Alamutu, Yemi Adeyemi (‘Suara’), Iyabo Oko, and Murphy Afolabi passing away in recent months. Their departures have left a void in the industry, and fellow actors continue to remember and honor their contributions.
