Nothing will stop me from ending open Defecation in Osun..Mrs Oyetola.

By Richard Ayinde, Osogbo.

Osun State governor’s wife, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has for the umpteenth times frowned at the age old unhygienic practise of open Defecation.

Against this backdrop, Mrs Oyetola said she will not relent in mustering both moral and official avenues to put an end to the practise.

The Osun first lady disclosed this in her office while granting audience to the Executives and members of Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN), Osun state chapter.

Expressing her disdain for the habit, the Osun first lady emphasised that she will not leave any stone unturned in further propagating the One House One Toilet Campaign throughout the state of Osun .

Describing the campaign as a collective responsibility, Mrs Oyetola urged the visiting team of the Environmental health practitioners to be alive to their responsibilities in achieving the all important scheme of making Osun open Defecation free.

While re- articulating her readiness to lead the house to house, town to town and city to city campaign against the unhealthy practise ,the President, IleriIOluwa Development Initiatives maintained that if made the order of the day throughout the State of Osun, it will promote good healthy living standard of all citizens.

She regretted that the COVID-19 pandemic affected the hitherto aggressive campaign on Open Defecation she embarked on, very soon, according to her, it will start afresh until when a point will be reached in Osun that all households will have toilets thereby putting at bay the harmful and unhygienic practise of open Defecation.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr Tope Akinwumi, the President, Environmental Health Association of Nigeria, (EHOAN), Osun State chapter thanked and appreciated the wife of the Governor particularly on her ceaseless resolve to embark on an open defecation advocacy Programme to all the three senatorial districts of the State.

Dr Akinwumi described the gesture as unprecedented in the history of the state.

While commending her that the gesture has started yielding the desired results, Dr Akinwumi assured the first lady that all Environmental Health Officers in the state are ready to work hand in hand with her NGO in a collective scheme to ensure open defecation free society .

Concluding his remarks which were full adulations for Mrs Oyetola, the President EHOAN, Osun used the opportunity to thank the governor of the state Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for the support given to his wife in all fronts to redress the many wrongs associated with Open Defecation.
