NSCDC Commandant – General charges Corps officers on dedication

The Commandant- General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has urged personnel of the Corps to reciprocate the kind gesture of the management and be loyal to the Corps and the nation at large.

This is contained in a statement issued by Soji Alabi the Deputy Commandant of Corps and Media Assistant to the Commandant General

The CG spoke in a meeting with top management staff, Heads of Directorates and various Departmental Heads in his office in Abuja while flagging off the commencement of work activities for the Year 2019.

He reminded officers and men of his promise upon assumption of office in 2015 that staff welfare and training would be his topmost priority, and as at today, his administration has promoted over 4,000 personnel in the senior and junior categories, and that promotion arrears including those promoted since 2014 were paid as at 31st December, 2018.

He also said that the Corps has keyed in into the policy objective of providing affordable housing to Civil Servants by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation through the Federal Government Housing Loan Board in Collaboration with the Federal Mortgage Bank and loans were provided for more than 962 officers and men to renovate their homes while 20 more officers and men have benefited from the Federal Integrated Staff Housing ( FISH) programme.

He also noted that Coaster busses has been provided for junior staff to reduce their transportation problems following the relocation of the National Headquarters from Zone 5 to Sauka.

Additionally, the CG said that over 10,000 personnel have been sponsored on several workshops, seminars and intensive training programmes both at home and abroad, to enhance their capacity to diligently deliver on the Corps’ mandate within available resources.

The CG, While appraising the activities of the Corps in the last year, commended the efforts of the various directorates and state commands for the achievements recorded in the area of the core mandate of the corps which he summarized as:
PROTECTION OF CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSETS AND INFRASTRUCTURES.

“The Corps has ensured maximum security to all facilities and infrastructures in the Power Sector, Telecommunications, Oil and Gas, Transport, Mines and Steel, Railway, Water Resources etc., through the deployment of officers and men of the Corps” he said.

The CG also noted that, OIL & GAS/ ANTI-VANDALISM: Fight against pipeline vandalism, oil theft and adulteration of petroleum products has been sustained through the collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, with several arrest made the tide of Pipeline vandalism reduce. Other areas where the Corps has recorded huge successes include protection of Telecomm mast and gas pipelines installations in the Niger Delta, protection of IDPs and donations to IDPs among others
