NSCDC Pledges to Rescue Abducted Kaduna Students and Teachers

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has assured that the abducted students and teachers of Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, will be rescued.

Audi gave this assurance during his visit to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, as stated in a press release by the NSCDC spokesman, Babawale Afolabi, on Thursday.

The abduction, which occurred on March 8, 2024, saw over 280 pupils and teachers taken by bandits from both schools, sparking national outrage.

Expressing readiness to collaborate with relevant security agencies, Audi emphasized the NSCDC’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abducted students and their teachers, while ensuring that the perpetrators face justice.

“We are ready to work in collaboration with all relevant security agencies with full mechanisms and security apparatus put in place to see that the perpetrators of this heinous crime do not go scot-free,” Audi stated.

He highlighted the NSCDC’s role as a key actor in the nation’s internal security and the lead agency in the Safe Schools Initiative, emphasizing strong synergy with other security agencies for the swift and safe return of the abducted students.

Audi urged communities in Kaduna State to support security efforts by providing actionable intelligence and information to achieve successful outcomes.

Governor Sani commended the effective collaboration between the Corps and other security agencies, emphasizing the need for all stakeholders to actively participate in preventing criminal activities in Kaduna State.
