NWF to engage universities in wrestling competition

The Nigeria Wrestling Federation, NWF says it will engage the university communities towards take-off of wrestling competition across the institutions in the federation.

The Wrestling Federation even it has promised to tap into the potentials of the youths, said the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State that is slated for September 2023 is an avenue to showcase their talents and potentials.

The President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Champion Daniel Igali disclosed this in a communique issued at the end of board meeting in Yenagoa, he commended the Prosperity Government led by Senator Douye Diri and the good people of Bayelsa State for consistently hosting/sponsoring the National Wrestling Classics since 2009 to date.

He further praised the governor for his impactful programs on the Nigerian Youths through sporting activities.

The Wrestling Federation said the Technical Committee is saddled with the sole responsibility to come out with a long term plan that will have robust and genuine impact on the development of young wrestlers with a view to replacing the ageing athletes.

Champion Igali, therefore appreciates the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports development while appealing for more support and early release of funds as the Wrestling Federation prepare towards the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia in September.
