NYG Asaba 2025: Lagos Clinch First-Ever Overall Title, Delta Finish Second

Lagos State has emerged overall winners of the 9th National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, marking the first time the state has claimed the top spot in the competition’s history.

The announcement was made on Saturday by Chief Amaka Ashiofu, who represented the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko.

Team Lagos amassed a total of 110 medals, including 52 gold, 32 silver, and 26 bronze, to secure the historic victory.

Host state Delta finished second with 114 medals — 37 gold, 38 silver, and 39 bronze — while Edo dropped to third place with 79 medals, made up of 33 gold, 18 silver, and 28 bronze.

Overall, 33 states won medals at the games, with athletes across the country claiming a combined total of 802 medals: 246 gold, 236 silver, and 320 bronze.
