The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has deployed 1,316 corps members for the 2023 Batch B, stream 1, to Bayelsa State for the mandatory one-year national service.
The arrival of the Corps members coincides with the ongoing building of two additional hostels in the camp by the State Government to aid the deployment of more corps members to the state.
The State Governor, Douye Diri, on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony held at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Boro Town, assured the new corps members of adequate security and welfare.
Gov. Diri, who was represented by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters, Mr. Wisdom Poyeri , also urged the corps members participate actively in all camp activities to boost their leadership and entrepreneurship skills, assuring that his administration will continue to support the scheme to achieve its set objectives.
He charged them to render quality service to the state and the nation at large.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, disclosed that the 1316 corp members deployed to the state are being registered and gradually adjusting to the demands of the orientation exercise.
She thanked Governor Douye Diri for building two additional hostels in the camp noting that it will aid the deployment of more corps members to the state.
Highlight of the event was the administration of National and NYSC Pledges on the corps members by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Maltide Abrakasa Ayemieye.
Top government functionaries, Representatives of Service Commanders, Traditional rulers were among dignitaries at the occasion.
