Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, praised the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). He commended them for rescuing Mrs. Folashade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu.
Mrs. Odumosu was abducted on January 16 in Arepo, Ogun State. The kidnappers dragged her from her SUV and took her to an undisclosed location.
The Ogun State Police Command quickly began an investigation. On Thursday, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed her rescue. The police also neutralized the kidnappers and recovered the ransom and weapons.
In a post on X, Obi expressed his approval. He praised the swift and professional response of the police. He also urged them to apply the same urgency to cases involving ordinary Nigerians.
Obi wrote, “I commend the Nigeria Police for their swift and effective response in rescuing Mrs. Folashade Odumosu. The operation, completed within a week, shows their ability to act decisively.”
Obi also thanked the Ogun State Police Command and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for dismantling the criminal network behind the abduction.
