Oborevwori Commissions 31km Road, Pledges Development in Delta Riverine Communities

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori says his administration is expanding infrastructure to improve living conditions in riverine areas of Delta State, following the commissioning of the reconstructed Ohoror–Bomadi Road. The 31-kilometre road links communities across Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Patani, Burutu, and Bomadi local government areas, providing improved access for residents and businesses.

Speaking at the event, Oborevwori described the project as part of efforts to ensure balanced development, particularly in previously underserved riverine communities. He said the road would enhance connectivity, support trade, and improve access to essential services.

According to the governor, the project includes engineering measures suited to swampy terrain, such as soil stabilisation, embankment protection, and asphalt surfacing. He added that the road spans between 6.5 and 10.3 metres in width, with shoulders in some sections.Oborevwori also highlighted ongoing projects in roads, bridges, and education, as well as efforts to improve electricity supply through grid extensions and transformer installations.

The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the project was designed for durability, while the Chairman of Bomadi Local Government, Dagidi Andaye, described it as a significant development for the area.
