Oborevwori Urges NYSC Members in Delta to Uphold Discipline, Respect Host Communities

By Anne Azuka

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has urged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to be law-abiding, respect their host communities, and serve as responsible ambassadors of Nigeria. The governor gave the charge at the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, Oborevwori encouraged corps members to actively participate in camp activities designed to build discipline, resilience, and practical skills for national service. “As you begin this national assignment, uphold integrity, patriotism, and commitment to national development,” he said.

He also urged participants to take advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to promote self-reliance and reduce dependence on white-collar jobs. The governor assured that the state government is addressing infrastructure needs at the camp, including improved security through the construction of a perimeter fence and upgrades to key facilities.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, John Kwaghe, commended the state government for ongoing support, including improvements to camp infrastructure such as roads and water supply.Kwaghe said 2,611 prospective corps members—1,203 males and 1,408 females—were registered for the orientation exercise.
