Ogun woman arrested for throwing five-month-old daughter into river

On Sunday, the Ogun State Police Command arrested a 30-year-old woman, Olubunmi Ajayi, for allegedly attempting to drown her five-month-old daughter, Imole Anifowose, in the RSS River, Sagamu. A passerby, Olusola Sonaya, intervened and rescued the baby after witnessing the mother’s act. The baby was quickly taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, where she is reported to be in stable condition. The police statement revealed that the suspect is under observation to assess her mental health, and efforts are being made to contact her relatives or husband for the baby’s welfare.
