From Noah Ocheni, Lokoja
The Lord Bishop of Akoko Diocese, Rt Rev’d Jacob Olajide Babajide Bada has called on the people of Okunland to Unite towards the socio-economic development of the land.
Bishop Bada who made this call at the first session of the 10th Synod of Kabba Diocese Church of Nigeria held at the Cathedral Church of St Andrew’s Kabba said lack of unity and divisive tendencies have been responsible for the visible lack of progress in the former Kabba Province.
He attributed developments and progress in other communities to the deep thinking of elders and stakeholders in such communities, pointing out that Okun people should brainstorm and think of the way forward.
The cleric who quoted from the book of Psalm 133, said the Bible supports the unity of a group of people, stressing that Okun people should work together and shun divisive and clanish tendencies.
While congratulating Kabba people for the establishment of Kogi State University Kabba in Kabba, he urged them to shun idolatory worshipping which he said could have deprived the area of needed developments.
The Bishop who had earlier extensively dwelt on teaching the theme of the synod which is “the power and benefits of the Eucharist to the believer”, urged the communicants to go out and win souls for Christ, saying ” we are saved to save others “.
The three- day synod gave all the churches in the diocese, the laity and the clergy, the opportunity to make far reaching decisions on the way forward for the progress of the diocese.
The Synod also gave them the opportunity for the reading and launching of the President of the synod and Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Kabba, The Rt Rev’d Steven Kayode Akobe’s charge.
