Ortom says Industrialization Panacea to Socio-Economic Development

By Isaac Kertyo Makurdi

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has advocated Industrialization of the country as the speedy and surest way out of the Socio-economic difficulties rocking the nation.

Ortom stated this when a delegation from the National Defense College Abuja, led by Brig. Gen. E.A Abubakar, paid a courtesy visit to him at the government house, Makurdi.

The Governor who emphasized the importance of Industrialization at the time the country was passing through difficulties, implored members of the delegation from the college to include other components in the study tour, such as small and medium scale industrialists to benefit from the excercise.

He stressed that his administration would look into the recommendations by the college, describing the research embarked upon by the college as timely and a welcome development.

Ortom attributed the relative peace being ejoyed by the people of the state to the efforts by the Nigerian Army personnel who stood firmly in defense of the state against herdsmen attacks.

The leader of the delegation, Brig. Gen. E.A Abubakar in his remarks told the governor that their mission  was to carry out a study tour which focuses on promoting science and technology education in the state.

According to Abubakar, the National Defense College has trained over 2000 participants within and outside the country in areas like peace and intelligence to enhance their professional skills.
