Our Political Party Is Nigeria, Federal Government Says IG

The Inspector General of Police who spoke through Deputy Inspector General of Police Northwest zone 10, DIG Hafiz Muhammad Inua while briefing newsmen,Police,Military and paramilitary revealed that their political party is Nigeria and theretofore must perform the duty imposed on them without fear or favour to groups or individuals who try to violate electoral laws.

The IG was in Sokoto for election monitoring and assessment of level of preparedness as directed by the Inspector General of Police.

“Ours is to inform you that we don’t have any political party except Nigeria and what will bring peace to Nigerians. Everybody knows ours is to secure integrity of Nigerians and when it comes to internal security the police force takes the lead”.

He said they would work hand to hand with paramilitary and other agencies to achieve the desired results adding the aim of inviting newsmen is to create enabling environment for Nigerians to become aware that they are going to perform their duty accordingly without fear or favour.

IG said every Nigerian who is eligible to vote would not be defranchised because of one reason or the other. However, the IG was of the view that the show of force conducted by the state Commissioner of Police was not aimed at intimidating anybody but create awareness they are in the state to maintain law and order.

“Peace must rain during and after elections like the President committed himself to live a legacy where credible elections leaving peace environment”.
