Over 6000 members of Abuja Aborigines resist, condemn protests, seek dialogue with Wike

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

Over 6000 members of the Abuja Aborigines Network, AAN, are standing with the Federal Government to resist and condemn the planned nationwide protests coming up on the 1st of August 2024.

President of the AAN, Dr. Donald Amagbo, who spoke with newsmen on Saturday after a Town Hall meeting called by the FCT Minister Barr Nyesom Wike, vehemently resisted any form of protest in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and other part of the country, adding that the Abuja Aborigines and other residents will not join the protests.

“The Network of Abuja Aborigines members we totally condemn, and we are ready to resist the planned protest because it was calculated to cause anarchy and make Nigeria ungovernable.”

“We hereby condemn in totality and are ready to resist the planned protest designated to take place in some landmark cities in Nigeria, including Abuja.

“Our investigations have confirmed that the protest is aimed at causing anarchy and making Nigeria ungovernable as a failed state, hence we (Abuja Aborigines Network) thereby pledge to support security agencies to fish out all undesirable elements that may wish to high-jack the protests.”

He also pledged that the AAN will support the relevant agencies to ensure peace and order in Abuja during the protest period.

Amagbo, lauded Wike’s efforts at introducing transformation reforms in the FCT which has transformed the nation’s in less than 12 months.

“Yes, we also feel the pains, but dialogue should be the best way out, and therefore our members will resist the protest because we don’t want the ensuing unrest that will distract the FCT from the good work he’s in the nation’s capital”, Amagbo emphasized.

Daybreak reports that there are plans for protests on 1st August against hunger and high cost of living in Nigeria.
