Parents in the state have been enjoined to ensure that their children are immunise in the current vaccination against measles.
State Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir made the plea at the launching of vaccination campaign against measles held in Bodinga local government area.
He said measles is a highly contagious virus that poses a serious threat particularly to children adding that in some cases it can lead to death.
Director Press to the deputy governor,Garba Muhammad in the statement made available to newmen further said,Alhaji Idris Gobir explained that the launching of the vaccination campaign is a significant milestone in eliminating measles which he said is a preventable disease.
He said effective arrangements have been made to ensure that vaccination teams have access to every community including hard-to-reach areas.
The Deputy governor expressed appreciation to healthcare professionals, community leaders and partners for their efforts toward the successful launching of the exercise.
Earlier, the Special Adviser,State Primary Health care Development Agency Alhaji Bello Garba informed the deputy that vaccination exercise was an effort between the state government and Development partners aimed at protecting children from measles.
Alhaji Garba Bello thanked the state government for its continued support to the Agency toward the realisation of its objectives.
