Pastor Uche Aigbe Faces Charges for Unlawful AK-47 Possession

The Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja has ruled that Uche Aigbe, the Presiding Pastor of House On The Rock Church, has a criminal case to answer regarding his possession of prohibited firearms. The Pastor’s no-case submission was rejected by Chief Magistrate Abubakar Ismail, who found the objection lacked merit. Magistrate Ismail stated that the evidence connects the defendant to the charges brought against him by the Police.

Uche Aigbe, along with Promise Ukachukwu and Olakunle Ogunleye, all affiliated with House on the Rock Church in Abuja, were charged with criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of prohibited firearms, inciting disturbance, and criminal intimidation. The Police alleged that they unlawfully possessed an AK47 rifle on February 12, 2023, which they denied.

The prosecution claimed that the defendants obtained the firearm from Inspector Musa Audu, who was stationed at Wuye Division and on guard duty at the church. They allegedly used the weapon during a sermon on faith, making inciting and intimidating statements to the congregation. The charges are based on violations of the Firearms Act and sections of the Penal Code.
