Pay Us Our Rights Or Else…., Civil Sevants, Labour Union Warn Sokoto Government

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Civil servants and Nigerian Labour Congress Sokoto branch has called on the state government to as a matter of urgency release the funds given to them by the Federal government to the states to distribute to civil servants as palliatives.

The members who trouped to government house were singing ‘wayyo yunwa a biya palliative’ in essence meaning “we are hungry, pay us”.

Unconnected with the facts that Federal Givernment under the leadership of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has released billions of naira as palliative to states, yet governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto is not making effort to release the said money to civil servants in the state.

Shedding more light on the peaceful demonstration,it is meant to serve as a message to reach the government of Sokoto as a warning and to inform Federal Government that state governors are yet to comply with the federal government’s order on sharing the money allocated to them as palliative.

Sokoto state Chairman of the labour union, Alhaji Abdullahi Jangul praised his members and the civil servants who came out in thousands and partook in the peaceful demonstration.
