PDP Blames APC for Internal Conflicts Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government of orchestrating internal conflicts within their party and other opposition groups in Nigeria. This accusation was made by PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi.

“They are our problem. It is better for President Bola Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress, to focus on their own party and leave the PDP alone,” Abdullahi told Punch.

He criticized the APC for efforts to weaken opposition parties, including the PDP, aiming to ensure no viable presidential candidates emerge from other parties for the 2027 elections. Abdullahi expressed confidence that the PDP and other opposition groups would not be easily swayed by the ruling party’s maneuvers.

Abdullahi cautioned that the APC’s attempts to dismantle the opposition ahead of the next general election would ultimately fail, asserting that the PDP is “wise enough to see beyond his [Tinubu’s] immediate interests.”

The PDP has been dealing with internal strife, particularly following disputes between former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Tensions within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and disagreements over state-level congress outcomes have further exacerbated the situation.

Despite these challenges, the PDP’s leadership remains resolute, vowing to overcome internal divisions and strengthen the party as it prepares for the upcoming political cycle.
