People Applauds VC Akinwumi Over Restoration of Peace in FUL Community

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi was at the weekend, showered with praises over restoration of peaceful coexistence in the university community.

The Vice Chancellor who celebrated his 60th birthday over the weekend, was recognised as a man of peace and development

Akinwumi was also given special honour on his leadership acumen that brought to an end the crisis he inherited from the immediate past administration which was described as unhealthy and dirty.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja and Chairman of the birthday celebration, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo gave the commendation in his opening remarks.

The Rector described Professor Olayemi Akinwumi as an international scholar and seasoned administrator who within a very short period in office had recorded numerous achievements both in academic and infrastructural development.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, of the University, Professor Mohammed Audu in his welcome address, said that the birthday celebration was a worthy event and a beautiful day for the celebrator and well wishers to be alive to witness the occasion.

He described Professor Olayemi Akinwumi as a famous scholar and historian who has paid his dues in academic circle.

Responding, the celebrator and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi appreciated all those who made time out of their tight schedule to grace the celebration.

According to him, “The success of my 60th birthday celebration today couldn’t have been made possible without the strength of our university community and existing cordialrelationship

“My gratitude also goes to the organising committee who worked for a long time now towards the realisation of today’s event”

High point of the occasion was “Book Review written on the Celebrator and Unveiling and Presentation of the Festschrift”
