Plateau Central Senator Diket Plang Loses Wife, Janet

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Diket Plang, has lost his wife, Professor Janet Plang, to the cold hands of death.

Reports reaching our correspondent indicate that Professor Janet had been battling a protracted illness, which ultimately claimed her life on Monday night.

Until her passing, she was a Professor of Sociology at the University of Jos and had been on leave of absence while lecturing at Baze University, Abuja.

She is survived by her husband, Senator Diket Plang; three daughters; a grandchild; a son-in-law; a sibling; and her father, Professor Monday Mangvwat.

Professor Janet Plang was an alumna of the prestigious Girls’ High School, Gindiri, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

She met her husband, Diket, during their secondary school years in Gindiri—she attended Girls’ High School, while he was at Boys’ Secondary School Gindiri, two years ahead of her.

The family is yet to announce the date of her funeral.
