By Isreal Adamu, Jos

As the Local Council Elections approach on October 9, 2024, Mr. Baba Sani Kashang, the Acting Chairman of Mikang LGA, initiated a tour of the four districts within the local government area on Thursday to seek community support and ensure a peaceful electoral process.

During the visit, Mr. Kashang was warmly welcomed by HRH Barr. Donald Puntelh, the Chairman of the Mikang Traditional Council, who reassured him of the residents’ commitment to peaceful coexistence and a respectful conduct during the elections.

Mr. Kashang emphasized the importance of collaboration with the traditional institutions to engage the youth and promote decorum during the campaigns and elections. He also expressed his openness to suggestions from the traditional leadership to enhance development in Mikang LGA.

The tour included visits to the palaces of HRH Lawrence Nashel, the Long Piapung, and HRH La’azarus, the Long Kanoem, both of whom pledged their communities’ support for a peaceful election. Long Kanoem expressed gratitude for the Acting Chairman’s commitment to fostering peace and promised to encourage respect for authorities among his people.

In addition to his electoral mission, the Acting Chairman inspected ongoing upgrades at the primary health care facility in Lifidi, originally initiated by former TIC Chairman Daniel Kungmi. Upon completion, this facility will function as a comprehensive health center specializing in snake bite treatments.
