After unjust arrest, detention and torture, operatives of Nigerian police force, Kaduna state have allegedly manufactured and came up with lies against the victim journalist with intention to frame him up and get him arrested.
Mr. Idibia Gabriel, the journalist with Daybreak Nigeria newspapers in Kaduna was arrested by the operatives of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Kaduna, for taking a snapshot of cattle being Shepherd by uniform policemen on Kachia expressway, on 11th June 2024.
The commissioner of police (CP), Kaduna state and his team were reported to have expressed serious anger against the journalist on hearing about his alleged action, but the allegations against him came after a widely circulated publication on his torture by the police.
According to the spokesman of Kaduna state police command, Asp Mansir Hassan, the CP was visibly unhappy with Idibia on hearing about the allegations made against him by the operatives that carried out the cattle operation and tortured the journalist
Asp Hassan who disclosed this while speaking to the victim journalist through WhatsApp call on 22nd June 2024, he also alleged that Mr. Idibia is being accused of aiding the escape of two bandits for obstructing the police operatives, this twist is widely known to every journalists and leadership of Nigerian Union of journalists (NUJ), Kaduna state council.
While inviting Mr. Idibia to meet with CP in his office, the police spokesman reportedly intimidated the journalist and repeated the accusation of escapes of two bandits.
Recall that some news reports had it that Journalist Idibia Gabriel, was arrested and tortured by Police for taking a snapshot of a large number of cattle Shepherd on Kachia highway, around Ungwam Boro, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna town after meeting with two of the operatives on 11th June 2024.
The journalist was arrested together with two other people,, his Handset, identity card were reportedly seized by the operatives but was later released on self recognition. He has reportedly escaped from public view for his own safety.
