Prior to the recent meeting by the National council of states, business activities now boosting in Kano and it’s environs where both old and new notes remained in circulation across the state.
Our correspondent who was at the ancient city of Kano reported that there is the little rejections of old naira totes in 200,500 and 1000 denominations before the Friday’s national council of state which was held in Abuja, where some traders, filling stations and other business owners denied the old currency.
Similarly, in Kano main markets of Sabon Gari, Kantin Kwari,Singer, Wambai, Kurmi and Dawanau international food market normal business activities is boosting while those who makes big purchases were busy buying commodities of their choice.
Most of the business owners and customers told our correspondent that” We all came out for normal activities because we heard that the national council of state met with the CBN leadership about the issue of naira redesign and we are certain that things would become sweet despite the scarcity of new notes “
They called on the national assembly to make it mandatory for the Apex bank to let the new and old naira work until all the old currency were totally withdrawan from the public and to makes the new naira available so as to ease hardships in the country.
