The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture Mitikishe DishiKhobe has said the procurement of Fertilizer for farmers in Adamawa State must follow a due process as directed by the state governor for security reasons since clearance must first be obtained from the Office of the National Security Adviser who has placed a ban on the product following the usage of some Fertilizer by insurgents in making explosives.
Speaking further the Commissioner maintained that ameliorating the plight of farmers remains a topmost priority of the Fintiri led Administration and that government is working round the clock to make sure farmers adequately benefit from this gesture.
“I am assuring the people of Adamawa that fertilizer will come. I don’t want to procure fertilizer as is the case with other organisations and individuals. I must follow the process of acquiring the product by obtaining a waiver to procure fertilizer from the office of the National Security Adviser. I am very much confident that it will be granted and the people will appreciate us. Mind you a ban has been placed on fertilizer since 2018 in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States. Any government that will purchase this must be cleared. The reason was because of the use of the products especially Urea in weaponry by insurgents. The governor share in the plight of farmers and pray the Almighty God to give us the strength to deliver on all our promises”. He said.
