R. Kelly Reportedly Hospitalized After Suspected Overdose in Prison

American R&B singer R. Kelly has reportedly been hospitalized following a suspected overdose at the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina.

According to multiple reports, Kelly collapsed in his prison cell on June 13, 2025, after receiving a high dose of medication. His lawyer, Beau B. Brindley, stated that the dosage could have been fatal, resulting in dizziness and temporary vision loss.

The 57-year-old was rushed to Duke University Hospital, where doctors discovered blood clots in his legs and lungs, raising further concerns about his health and safety behind bars.

The incident occurred just two days after Kelly’s legal team publicly accused prison authorities of conspiring against him.

Following treatment, Kelly was returned to solitary confinement. His lawyer has since condemned the conditions of his detention, describing his cell as infested with spiders and lacking access to phone calls or commissary food. Brindley also expressed fears that the singer may be at risk of poisoning.
