In the spirit of Ramadan, the FCT Minister, Barr. Nysome Wike on Monday in Gwagwalada distributed ten thousand bags of rice to the FCT Muslim Community in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The FCT Minister’s Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi who represented the minister, said that the gesture is the Minister’s way of identifying with the season of Ramadan, which is a period of fasting, giving alms, and touching lives.
Amadi said, “The Minister, in his own little way, is trying to identify with the religious community here in FCT by ensuring that as they go through fasting, as they go through prayers, that at the end of the day, there’s something they will use to break their fast, and this is part of the almsgiving that the Minister is carrying out today to ensure that we identify with them.”
Amadi said that the FCT minister had provided the ten thousand bags of rice to be distributed to the Muslim community, as he urged their religious leaders to ensure the bags of rice get to those who need it most.
“It’s a time we need to identify with the needy in our society, the less privileged in our society, those that truly need some form of assistance. 10,000 bags of rice will definitely go a long way to reach out to most of us in this season.”
“As we distribute these items today, we urge you, please, try as much as possible to identify our brothers and our sisters and young ones among you that truly are in need and ensure that they participate, they partake in this gift that the Honorable Minister has so willingly provided on behalf of the FCT administration.”
The minister further used the occasion to enjoin corporate bodies, non-governmental bodies to identify with this season by reaching out to our religious organizations by replicating the gesture of giving.
One of the beneficiaries, Chief Imam at the Minister’s residence, Imam Lawal Mustapha , on behalf of all other Imams thanked the FCT minister for his kindness in distributing things that are needed by the people.
Imam Lawal prayed for protection and progress of the minister.
Principle School for the Deaf, AbdulRazzaq Surajo, stated that the Ramadan season is a time of blessing, adding the Minister’s kind gesture during the Ramadan is a bonus for the people.
The school principal said, “The Minister is turning things around in Abuja and touching lives. God will be with him, give him good health, long life, and prosperity.”
He also thanked the minister for the recent renovation of the school, adding that the students would celebrate the Salah with happiness.
End.
