Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Senate, has made a revelation that could foster greater unity but may also surprise many Nigerians unaware of the situation.
In a post on his verified X account, Senator Sani revealed that Northerners and Westerners generally do not buy or own properties in Southeastern states like Enugu, Owerri, or Awka.
He pointed out that, in contrast, many Easterners own numerous mansions, properties, and companies in the Northern and Western regions, contributing significantly to development in those zones.
Despite being a typical Northerner, Sani expressed his intention to buy a house in the Eastern region, believing that doing so would reduce regional apathy and encourage more Northerners and Westerners to follow suit, thereby fostering a sense unity and shared prosperity.
He said, “I will try to buy a house in Enugu, Owerri, or Awka, so I can visit during holidays. Perhaps after I do this, Northerners and South Westerners will start owning properties there and enjoying the beauty of that part of our country.”
Senator Sani, a popular figure from Northern Nigeria, is seen as someone who can lead this initiative, inspiring other Northerners and Westerners to invest in properties and businesses in the Southeastern states, ultimately strengthening national cohesion.
