Rivers Crisis: I Believe This is the Last Time, Fubara, Assembly will Obey President – Wike

By Joyce Remi- Babayeju

FCT Minister, Barr. Nysom Wike, has expressed optimism that the River State governor Siminalayi Fubara and state House of Assembly will obey President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intervention’s into the ongoing political crisis in the state.

Thid was after President Tinubu waded into the feud between Wike and Fubara in Aso Villa in Abuja.

Wike expressed his expectations on Tuesday in Abuja after a routine check of major road projects nearing completing for commissioning for the third year anniversary of Mr. President.

Speaking to newsmen, Wike hailed the president for his fatherly role for the second time and emphasized that after the reconciliatory meeting it is expected that the legislators and the governor will keep to agreement.

“Mr. President, has been very kind to the people of the state. If there seems to be a problem between the legislators and the governor, and as a father, he really has to intervene.”

“I remember this is the second time Mr. President is intervening. I believe, by the grace of God, this will be the last time, I believe that.”

The minister said that on his part, he has advised the legislators to obey the president.

Wike said,” For The Assembly, I have told them to do what is necessary to obey Mr. President, which I know they will not hesitate. And I also believe that the governor will carry out his own part to make sure that this is the final time Rivers people will stop hearing this kind of discord. So that is it.”

Furthermore, the minister has said that the road projects he has seen today are satisfactory, near completion and ready for commissioning to mark President Tinubu’s third year in office.

l”We were at life camp, N5, and it’s completely finished. You were there when Julius Berger said in three weeks time, they would have finished. What they are working now is the walkways, the streetlights are already there. “

Giving a rundown of the project, the minister said,
“Last time we went there, remember that the bridges were not complete but today, you could see that the bridges are completed; Four-lane, each of the sides.”

So we are happy it’s one of those projects that we think will be inaugurated by the President’s third year in office.

“Here again, we are in Karsana. You can see the walkway done, carried out by Lubriks Construction. I’m very impressed with the quality of work. I didn’t know that it’s like a ring road, covering over 10 kilometers.”

The minister gave assurance that contractor will meet up with the timeline of May/ June handover.
