Sallah: Price Of Animals Affordable In Kano Rural Markets

Price of livestocks was affordable to buyers at Kano local markets, where the dealers decries lack of money at hand due to the present global economic situation.

zour correspondent who visited some local markets reported that there is adequate animals from small ruminants to bigger ones, but lack of adequate money remained a great issue to buyers.

At Badume market in Bichi local government area, price of rams, goats sheep and other small ruminants was very affordable, where an average ram costs from 30,000-120, he goat from 10,000-30,000, goats and sheep’s from 20,000-40,000 according to the size and health status of each animal.

At Dambatta cattle market, our correspondent gathered that a hearthy calf costs from 50,000 to 200,000 while an average cattle was sold at 10,000 to 300,000 where a large bulls sold from 300,000 to 600,000 depending on it’s fattening.

Similarly, birds like hens,cocks turkeys and Fowls were sold from 1000 to 4000, while ducks turkeys sold from 5000 to 7000 depending on their size, while at Kofar Na’isa where they sells camels, the price differed from other livestock because of their size and meat quantity.

Most of the dealers expressed that although there is no money at hand, people have tried their best in buying some animals for Eid-elderly Kabir festivities which is an annual events, that needs special organisation.
