Sanwo-Olu Mourns Jigawa Governor’s Son and Mother

By Abigail Philip David

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, over the tragic losses of his eldest son, Abdulwahab Namadi, and his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi.

Abdulwahab tragically passed away in a car accident on Thursday, while Hajiya Maryam died on Wednesday following an illness.

In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the losses as devastating and sympathized with the Namadi family and the people of Jigawa State.

“The loss of a loved one is deeply painful and often beyond human understanding. However, as people of faith, we accept it as the will of Almighty Allah, who gives and takes life,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He added, “On behalf of my family, the people, and the government of Lagos State, I extend my deepest condolences to my brother Governor Umar Namadi, his wife, the siblings of the deceased, and the entire Namadi family over the untimely death of Abdulwahab.

“We also mourn with the Governor and the people of Jigawa State over the loss of Hajiya Maryam Namadi. These back-to-back tragedies are undoubtedly a heavy blow to the family and the state.”

Sanwo-Olu urged the Namadi family and Jigawa residents to remain strong in faith during this difficult time. He offered prayers for the departed, saying, “We join you in praying for the souls of Hajiya Maryam and Abdulwahab Namadi. May Almighty Allah grant them Al-Jannah Firdaus and provide the family with the strength to bear this immense loss.”

He concluded by calling for prayers and support for the bereaved family as they navigate this painful period.
